Ci scrive un Assergese negli Stati Uniti...Commento di FRANK MEDORO (Canada)

Cari amici di “Assergi Racconta” ci ha scritto un nostro affezionato lettore dal Canada, Frank (Checchino) Medoro  che si rivolge all’assergese degli Stati Uniti che si è firmato “EVS”. Anche in questo caso pubblichiamo la lettera integralmente:
"Caro Antonio, My words are directed to that person, in the States, who has written such vivid lines of Assergi the way she remembers. There are numerous persons around the world who, like me, left our little town during our formative years. Yes, we return to the place of our birth, once in a while, searching for those traces of our youth, traces of those people we once knew, and traces of the town that were so dear to us but find nothing but changes - modern changes, changes that provide a better life for the people of Assergi. The memories of our youth stay dear to our heart and it's only fitting that it is so, after all it defines who we are. Perhaps, the people of Assergi are not as attached to the way of life of 60 years ago as we are. They have progressed at their own paces, accepting the changes of life, in their town, gradually and with much enthusiasm. They have not experienced a "break" of 60 years or so from the town, during their life, the way most of us have had. Dear American, I would enjoy hearing from you and comparing notes of our early life in Assergi. I'm signing off with my e-mail address. Best regards from Canada. Frank".
